Castelsardo is a small town which is situated on the summit of a rocky promontory in a fortified position overlooking the port. It was founded by the Doria family of Genoa in the XII Century. From the second half of the 15th Century it became a possession of the crown of Aragon and today is farming and fishing centre and also tourist center. In the interior of the castle, you can find the weaving Museum which has an important collection of basketwork items made from palm fronds. The visitor will find the Cathedral of Sant'Antonio Abate in the old town of Castelsardo. This church was built in the XVI Century.
