Ekincik is an easy 4 hour sail from Marmaris Marina or 3 hours from Kumlu Buku. Sailing along the coast past the sweeping beaches and Kara burun toward Ekincik you pass the breeding grounds of the loggerhead turtle, stopping for lunch and a swim. The easy and prettiest place to moor is at the My Marina pontoon. Beware of underwater rocks. You can also anchor to the south, but the lands drops very steeply. In the evening you can moor in the cove below the Marina restaurant, built on the slopes of the hill among the trees. Here you can arrange with a local boatman for a trip to the ruins of Caunos the next morning. This ancient city and port is situated in the now silted Dalyan river which winds through tall papyrus reed beds. Herons, many wading birds and turtles can be seen on the river banks. Roman ruins, baths, temple and a small theatre are built on the older site, there is a medieaval fort over looking the town. For those not taking this trip there is good windsurfing in the flat waters at Ecincik Liman and snorkelling around the shores.
