Göcek - the harbour village sits at one end of the Gulf of Fethiye, which is considered by many experienced sailors to offer some of the best cruising waters in the world. There are opportunities for windsurfing and kayaking and there is a scuba school also. Though the small town beach is perfectly acceptable, most people either take the shuttle to one of the offshore islands or a dolmus to one of the nature reserve beaches a little way out of the town. For those who prefer to stay on dry land the village is very appealing. There is a wide, grassy harbourfront promenade, lined with classy bars and restaurants, which is a great place to wander and watch the world go by. With a little exploration you can find the small, local market, tea houses, traditional Lokantas and proper Turkish barbers shops.
