ZUT, an island in the Kornati Archipelago, between the islands of Pasman and Kornat; area 14.82 sq km (length 12 km, width up to 2 km). The coasts of the island are steep and very well indented; numerous coves (Luka, Zut, Hiljaca, Saruscica, Bizikovica, Pinizel, Bodovac, etc.) provide anchorage for fishing boats and other smaller vessels. There are no permanent settlements on the island; the houses scattered on the island serve as temporary abodes for fishermen and the inhabitants of Murter, who own olive-groves and vineyards on the island, while sheep are kept in them during the winter. There is a marina on the island - Zut ACI Marina on the island, with 120 berths. The entire region surrounding the island, is just ideal for all kinds of water sports and recreation.
