The island of Rhodos is just one hour flight away from Athens (Airways International fly to Athens three times a week) and it is officially known as the sunniest place in Europe (more than 300 sunny days a year). Rhodes has an area of 1,350 square kilometers and is approx. It is the largest island of the Dodecanes, (the name means twelve islands) a complex of islands in the south of the Aegean Sea and at the meeting point of three continents - Europe, Asia and Africa. From the end of May to the end of September the temperature is in excess of 25 degrees. In July and August it is more than 30 degrees and it doesn't rain, but the summer heat is offset by a cooling sea breeze. May and June - day's temperature between 25 and 30 degrees. Rhodos offers crystal-clear waters, isolated coves and fantastic beaches. Remarkable monuments are all over the island. The 'Old City' as the locals know it, is surrounded by a medieval wall. Inside, cobbled streets lead to the Italian Palace of the Grand Masters, which was built as a weekend-house for Italian dictator, Mussolini. Few metres from the Palace is Socrates Street, the main shopping street in the old city. Rhodos offers you many restaurants with every kind of Greek food possible, from Souvlaki, Greek Salad to Calamari. About one hour drive to the west from The old city is Lindos, a picturesque little whitewashed village. View to the Aegean Sea from inside the walls is breathtaking!
